Curcumin is the main curcuminoid in turmeric (Curcuma longa). Standard curcumin is poorly absorbed, so formulated versions such as Longvida® have been developed. The summaries below describe published research on solid lipid curcumin (the technology used in Longvida®). They are not studies of this exact product and do not promise the same results.

1. Bioavailability of Solid Lipid Curcumin

A pharmacokinetic study in healthy volunteers and in osteosarcoma patients reported that a solid lipid curcumin particle formulation produced higher blood levels of curcumin than unformulated curcumin.

2. A Study of Longvida® in Healthy Older Adults

In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 60 healthy adults aged 60–85 took 400 mg of Longvida® (the amount in one capsule of this product) or a placebo. The researchers reported better performance on sustained attention and working memory tasks one hour after a single dose, and better working memory and mood scores after four weeks of daily use. This was a single, small study in healthy older adults.
